Week 6 QMLS - The divisional championship run-in

None had foreseen that 3 teams would head into round 6 with 100% records in the race to be crowned Divisional Champions.

Pre-season favourites and defending champions Hashutites had continued where they had left off last season to set a new all-time record of 8 successive victories along with 8 successive clean sheets.

Whilst old chaos foes, the Bognor Bograts, have gone touchdown crazy in what potentially will be the highest amount of touchdowns scored in a season ever as they have blitzed through all opponents.

And then there was the surprise package of the season, Celestial Comedy. The newly formed pro elves kicked up a storm before the season opener as head coach of the Dwarverhampton Wanderers switched alliances and, with their unique brand, lit up the league.

Bognor Bograts find themselves top of the pile on goal difference having scored an astonishing 16 TD’s so far this season and having won the inaugural Chaos Cup derby against Hashutities in the previous round, the rats will be heading into the final stretch with true belief that they can finish as divisional champions and become the first team ever to do so with a 100% record. Up next though will be a tough match up against the greenskins of OrcaLoca, with Amazone Prime and what looks set to be a final round classic and possible divisional title decider against the pro elven Celestial Comedy to follow before the business side of the season begins in the post season.

Celestial Comedy have stunned the QMLS this year and have proved the myth wrong that even new teams can compete against the more experienced teams and having claimed victory in the very first Elf Classico in the previous round when brushing aside their dark elf cousins, Celestial Comedy are sitting pretty at the top of the league with a 100% record and are set for a semi final showdown, but the true tests awaits the elves, with Amazone Prime up next before a massive double header to end the regular season and a double header which will show just how far this team has come in a very short amount of time, with reigning champions Hashutites followed by a final round match up and possible divisional title decider against the Bograts.

Defending champions Hashutites, after a last round defeat which saw their record breaking winning streak come to a shuddering  halt in the first Chas Cup derby, will have their backs up as they aim to get back to winning ways in their hunt to become only the second team to win back to back Superleagues when they entertain the amazonian beauties, Amazone Prime before entering a huge match up against the pro eleven Celestial Comedy which already is a mouth watering prospect before a final round match up against the undead Darklands Resurrected.

Meanwhile...in the race for fourth...

OrcaLoca are leading the way to claim fourth knowing that if they win their remaining games then a semi final showdown awaits, this after grinding out victory in round 6 against Amazone Prime giving themselves ‘prime’ spot for the race for fourth. But tricky games await for the greenskins with match ups against league leaders the Bognor Bograts, followed by the illusive Crescent Moon and finishing off with the Golden Eternals of Chaqua.

LTs Metal Heads, following a crucial bye in the last round against the disappearing Crescent Moon, find themselves just a point behind the coveted fourth spot but will enter the final stretch with optimism knowing that they have already faced the top three and with what has become a huge game against the Underearth Assassins up next, the Metal Heads know that they can’t afford defeat to a team level on points with themselves, with the Darklands Resurrected and a final game against the Amazone Prime to follow.

The Underearth Assassins go into the final 3 rounds lying in 6th place but only a point off fourth. With 3 defeats to their name, albeit losing to the three run away leaders, the Assassins head into a 6 pointer against LTs Metal Heads who are above them on goal difference after seeing their last game given as a bye against the no show vamps, they then entertain the lizards of Chaqua whom stopped the rot of 4 straight defeats with a precious point against Darklands in round 6 and then finish off their campaign against the puzzle that is the Crescent Moon.

Amazone Prime have seen their position waver after three successive defeats leaving them with work to do in the up and coming rounds with probably the hardest of the run ins with the Bograts and Hashutites coming up before a final game against the LTs Metal Heads.

Outsiders for a top berth however are the Golden Eternals of Chaqua and the Crescent Moon, but with the both teams needing results to go their way a building process is more likely what each head coach will be looking at in the final games, though the lizards still have to play the dark elves and orcs both of whom are in touching distance so the blue skins will still feel a top four place is not impossible while the vamps have now become as unpredictable off the pitch as they are on it with 2 games already given as byes to their opponents for no shows.

But we won’t end there, as the Darklands Resurrected find themselves routed to the bottom of the table but will take heart (if they had one) from a promising round 6 game against the lizards which saw them gain their first points of the season after a 1-1 draw which could have been so much more after a final phase stumble. But with the vamps up next who they famously beat last season, along with LTs Metal Heads the undead will be aiming to add to their points total before the daunting task of facing the reigning champions Hashutites in their final game.

It all promises to be a fascinating contest to the bitter end to see which team will be getting the bragging rights to be called the QMLS Divisional Champions along with the No.1 ranking heading into the post season and who secures the fourth spot to complete the semi final line up.
