Week 4 (Part 1) - Daylight At The Top For League Pace-Setters

Updated: May 16, 2019

The top three overcame stern tests to maintain their excellent 100% winning record. A series of misfortune struck the defeated belligerents to allow the top sides to escape with victory and widen the gap in the hunt for a QMLS play-off place.

LT's Metal Heads 1

Amorphis

Bognor Bograts 2

Chiqui Arsol (2)

Débutante Chiqui Arsol scored a brace to maintain the Bognor Bograts 100% start to Season X. They had to come from behind and survive a late scare to secure the win, but their endeavours were well-rewarded with an unscathed line-up.

The Metal Heads' paramedics were busy against the Bograts.

The game was in stark contrast to the match against Crescent Moon, as Bograts whittled a deep Metal Heads squad to a mere skeleton of 4 players by the end of the match! It certainly was an unorthodox approach from the rat pack.

LT's Metal Heads, on the hand, had to settle for another disheartening loss, though their performances merited better yields. Indeed, the humans almost took advantage of a riot at the end of the end that delayed the clock, alas a lineman slipped on his way to assist the key blitz - such was their misfortune. The squad, however, is fleshing out to be better equipped for next season.

An unnervingly favourable blocking game from Bognor set up the win.

Mango's Valuable Player: Chiqui Arsol, the architect behind the desolation of Lizardmen country of Chaqua, signed after seeing Bognor Bograts sweep through the Golden Eternals, and he excelled with 2 decisive scores.

Golden Eternals of Chaqua 1

Tlaxitzahix

Celestial Comedy 3

Taldogdorren Noroos, Turin Noroos, Upadgalad Augglinarin

Celestial Comedy unleashed their offensive instincts to sweep the visiting Lizardmen away. In a game where most players lacked adequate armour, there was a discerning lack of bloodshed whilst the fans had to suffice with the trading knockouts,

The Eternals were in the ascendancy numerically but could not get to grips with the slippery Elves. Comedy ran out into an early 2-0 lead courtesy of the Noroos brothers, Taldogdorren catching a deep ball straight from kick-off, whilst power blitzer Turin, caught a fortuitous blitz!

The game was slipping away before the old-ones could catch their breath. The result may not reflect it, but the Eternals efficiently made progress up field, only to be denied by an unfortunate slip at the endzone from skink Oatlux du Lac.

The lizards were quick to repeat the feat in the second half, but with better results as hired skink, Tlaxitzahix, rushed in for his TD. The ball is most dangerous in the hands of an throwing elf, and the well-drilled offensive unit rushed down the flanks. The restart, however, saw the ball deflected from the intended receiver and an unsightly scramble ensued.

Celestials provided the goals, whilst Oatlux provided the comedy.

At one point, Gortsa the skink, had the ball in possession and the full view of the field. Unforgivably, the runt froze like a deer in headlights, and succumbed to Noroos's hard fists. It was left to Upadgalad Augglinarin to rectify his error to convert the third and kill off this intriguing tie.

There's nothing funny about the Comedy's charge to the top, as they have been the big surprise package of the season. Their 100% offense conversion and just 1 TD conceded put them in a strong position for the race in the QMLS.

As for the Chaquans. they find themselves in a respectable 6th but desperate for wins in their play-off hunt and revenge against their skaven foes.

Mango's Valuable Player: Turin Noroos was a thorn in defence and key to blasting open holes for the catchers to run through. Without his interventions, the lizards could have equalised late in the game.
