The Vampires End Their Barren Spell By Sinking Darklands

Updated: Jan 21, 2019

Darklands 1

Zara the Slayer

Crescent Moon 2

Uthman, Ali

The Crescent Moon recorded their first points of the season by inflicting defeat, and leapfrog, against their Human foes in an entralling game of Blood Bowl to climb off the foot of the table.

A closely fought first half saw both teams settled on having a mass brawl in the centre of the park, with the Darklands cage around thrower, Helmut Alban, being suffocated by the vampires' swarming presence mid way through the first half.

Thrall Al-Ghazali sacked Alban and calmly collected the bouncing ball as Alban hit the deck. The ensuing crowd pushing, jockeyed the Darkland players to take a pot-shot at the new ball carrier only for thrall teammate, Suleimen I, to collect and hand over the reigns to Vampire Uthan Ibn Affan, who had the entire Darklands half to run into, while amazingly each team continued in trying to inflict as much pain to one another.

Darklands Ogre, Daggers Head-Splitter, took out Vampire Abu Bakr with a thunderous right hook to level the playing field, and it was left to loaned star Zara the slayer to make a last ditch attempt in stopping Uthman. The Vampire expertly palmed away her stabbing advance to steal the ball home for a defensive takeaway. It didn’t get any better for the Darklands, as straight from the restart and with players running deep for a last minute score, Helmut Alban slipped in his attempt to gain yards up the field to get into position, Darklands had seen their opportunity slip away.

Darklands defence began the second half brightly, who immediately went on the front foot and smashed a huge hole down the centre of the park allowing Ogre, Daggers Head-Splitter, to blitz down the gut and pressurise ball carrier Ali. But with the playing field open, Ali made a break for it after some great blocking from Uthman Ibn Affan, who nullified Head-Splitters advances.

A smattering of misfortune plagued both sides, starting with a fumbled pass in midfield, that gave the Darklands defence time to regroup. yet as the defence closed in, Ali made up for his error to collect the ball again and this time with an open field in front of him rushed in from the half way line, dodging a last ditch tackle from Darklands blitzer, Gunther Urguhart, to score Crescent Moon's second of the game and put breathing space between the teams.

The Darklands were not to be denied for their stellar endeavour, as they finally scored their first touchdown of the season with loaned star Zara the Slayer deciding to take matters into her own hands and from deep inside her own half. Ably supported by a 4 man cage that picked off the thralls, one by one, the humans protected Zara to score Darklands first ever professional touchdown in the dying minutes of the game.
