Underearth Assassins Shake Off 30 Years Of Dust To Record First Win

Underearth Assassins claimed their maiden victory in the revamped QMLS with an impressive rushing defence that turned over their Undead foes to condemn Darklands Resurrected to their third straight defeat.

The pulsating match was defined by some clever Elf blitzing that wormed the undead ball carrier, Helmut, from the safety of the tight cage into the defenders’ unforgiving reach. Yreoth epitomised the strategy by dislodging the ball to set up a frenetic counter attack that saw Celmair and Ferrel combine for the latter to break the deadlock midway through the first half.

It was a far cry from the early exchanges as the Mummies executed their punching game to perfection, removing 2 elves before the defence could respond. With the game still young, the Dark Elves kicked off again only to see Smekhkare pluck the ball from the air!

Witnessing the imposing Mummy charge through the elven ranks was a disturbing sight, but the defenders frustrated the offensive drive and just about held firm to secure a critical lead at half-time.

Darklands began the second half ahead in personnel and pushed high up the pitch to clog the centre. A high kick, however, was caught by runner Hethmair who used the space on the right flank and handed-off to the gleeful Gadlil. Gadlil slipped through the tackle zones to penetrate the Darklands territory.

The defence looked in dismay to see a further 4 elves form a screen behind their high line, and found themselves cut off from the new ball carrier, Galddar. Underearth’s blocking game was clearly not as effective as their elusive gameplay, as goal scorer Ferrel self-inflicted a nasty groin strain when trying to hit a zombie on the line of scrimmage, forcing him to miss the next game.

Seeing the elves stall near the endzone enraged the undead, and forced Corpsemuncher, the ghoul, to attempt a high risk blitz through the offensive line. In his attempt doing so, Corpsemuncher broke his jaw and will now miss Darklands Resurrected’s next match.

Recalling the game-managing errors against OrcaLoca, previously, Galddar did not require a second invitation to convert possession to effectively end the game at 2-0.

With the pressure off, Darklands Resurrected played with a bit more freedom and flair once in possession. They formed a formidable cage that trundled masterly into their hosts half and convert a late consolation through Marrowravager.

Darklands Resurrected will be dusting their tombs down in preparation for their grudge match against OrcaLoca. The Darklands suffered death and destruction at the hands of the greenskins in the original Origins Challenge Cup. Will the Darklands exact revenge in that fateful Match Day 1 of the QMLS?

The Underearth Assassins morale will be sky-high after this result, and will want to carry on their form against their Lustrian hostesses, Amazone Prime, who look to fortify a top 4 spot with a win.

Mango's Valuable Player: Galddar's TD secured the much needed win for the Assassins, and his defensive work was key to stalling the offensive drives. His subtle work was richly rewarded with the game-winning score.
