Bognor Bograts 2 Snablutch Slobber (2)
Hashutites 1 Urken Burntfoot
Hashutites, the runaway and previously undefeated league leaders were hauled back by a plucky Bograts defensive display to blow the Quicama Championship wide open with just 3 regular season games to go!
The Skaven kicked deep and set about keeping a tight formation in defence, clearly in fear of the imposing Bull Centaurs and Minotaur. Indeed, the Ferdinand, the Mino, blitzed at every opportunity into the rodents’ left flank, but the defenders withheld the pressure and countered with a telling blow in Turn 4.
The rookie Rat Ogre, who impressed once again, injured Ferdinand and set about making a nuisance of himself, by marking the tough centaurs. Meanwhile, Toxm, the hobgoblin, looked uncomfortable with the ball and tried at every opportunity to hand-off to his imposing team-mates, but he spilt the ball, leaving a tantalising target for the gutter runners to aim for. It was too much for Snablutch to deny, and he weaved around the offensive line and dived onto where the ball landed and threw it downfield out of reach of the dismayed Chaos Dwarfs.
It was a race to the ball that favoured the rodent pack, and they scored from the turnover, securing a 1-0 lead at the stroke of half-time.
The start of the second half was tense affair as both sides traded blows, which favoured the Dwarfen game more. With Bognor running out of rats, they scurried to the opposite flank and Snablutch dodged his way to his second score of the night. The goal seemed to have killed the game off, but due to a lack of defenders, Hashutites were confident of at least punishing the rest of the pestilent clan.
Hashutites’ plan were almost scuppered as the defence had a blitz from the kick off, but failed to capitalise as a go-for-it went completely wrong, allowing the momentum to briefly swing back to the offense. Another bold throw from Toxm reached his target, Urken Burntfoot, who escaped the close attention of the Storm Vermin, to pull a goal back.
There was a glimmer of hope for Hashutites, as the Bognor Bograts fielded just 6 on kick-off – the Bloodweiser Babe could not wake up the rest of the pack from their senses – but the rats planned a retreat and played keep ball until the final whistle to secure a critical win in their hopes of reaching the Championship final.
The result of this titanic match has already sent deep reverberations across the rest of the league. Sensing opportunity, OrcaLoca and Dwarverhampton Wanderers will be chomping at the bits for a chance to be crowned champions of the new Quicama Championship.
