Hashutites 1
Ogedei
EcuKhemrical Matters 0
Hashutites became the first team in QMLS History to win three titles, and the first to ever win it back-to-back. “The Invincibles” ride off into the sunset knowing that their 19-game unbeaten record will forever etch their names into the annals of Blood Bowl history.
The game began with the reigning champions electing to receive and the early blows justified the decision with 3 quick removals. Undeterred, the bony defenders marched in phalanx formation to deny space in the centre. Separation became a premium, and Ogedei had only the aid of Bultar for protection. The first half steadied into a jostling contest in midfield with neither side dictating position.
Nonetheless, with the defence swamped and outrun, EcuKhemrical pressed enough to force a slightly earlier score than the Hashutites would prefer. Hashutites then withstood the onslaught of the Khemri pummelling and maintained enough bodies on the line to begin the second half.
It was 1-0 at half time and Fate took a hold of the match. In previous rounds, Fate had been favourable in the run-in to the final for Hashutites, and it played a major part again in the Championship Game against a despondent EcuKhemrical Matters side, who by accounts, were a bully that the Chaos Dwarfs could not dominate.
The key moment happened at the second half restart where a very shallow kick from Hashutites was rushed and successfully captured to steal possession from the Tomb Kings before they had the chance to retaliate! It was a blitz! And the Chorfs took full advantage.
EcuKhemricals carved up the protection to give Ogedei a highlight uppercut that had the hobo spinning to the infirmary, but the subsequent bobbling ball fell kindly into chorfen possession.
The ancient ones had not registered a moment with the ball before seeing the ball fly past and land deep into their half with a cheeky lob from an enslaved hobgoblin. The recomposed Khemri outfit had a race against time and charged through the monumental physique of Marnak, but with a sign of a breakthrough seemingly close, the reliable Cairo Practor failed to crush the skull of a hobgoblin and lay helpless watching Marnak pull off a stunning sack on Tabra.
The ball coughed into the stands and the fans hurled it back out of reach of any bony digit. It was clear who the fans were cheering for as the great carrot of a ball attracted Marnak’s attention.
The Hashutites line held firm for most of the game, but with the game won attention swung in their direction and the mighty blockers had two players crushed. MVP Nominee Fharikk had his skull fractured whilst Gharikk tasted the spiky boot and suffered a minor injury.
Hashutites were reduced to just 5 by the final whistle - a rare sight in 4 seasons. It was a slight tarnish to a magnificent achievement! Hashutites won their third title and cemented their legacy in the QMLS as the best it has ever seen!
Mango’s Valuable Player: Marnak Darkstabber suffered an injury for his self-sacrifice in the second half that kept Khemri on the backfoot and afforded the rest of the team to get stuck in the melee in midfield. He was instrumental in preventing the famed EcuKhemrical Cage from forming.
