QMLS Season XII: Mango's Week 3 Power Rankings

We're midway through the regular season and the 2 conferences are shaping up nicely. Hashutites and EcuKhemrical Matters took early leads in their respective Divisions, and an eerie symmetry is emerging in how the league is panning out.

The MiddleLands Division saw huge swings in fortune to leave 5 teams vying for 3 playoff spots, but lay in the wake of the Hashutites. The reigning champions look set to break an all-time record of remaining undefeated with a crunch match against a wounded Metal Heads team.

Meanwhile in the Quiçama Division, Nurgle lead the chasing pack of challengers and, no doubt, will aim to close in on the early pace-setters, EcuKhemrical Matters. It's a mouth-watering prospect to see the two bashing teams duke it in Week 4. The season fast appraoches crunch time with only two regular fixtures remaining before the heartbreaks and glory of the Play-Offs.

1. EcuKhemrical Matters (↔1)

Won 1-0 vs Golden Eternals of Chaqua

The Khemri passed a stern test with flying colours to cement their position as top dogs in the Power Rankings as they triumphed in the Auld Firm Derby against the Lizardmen of Chaqua. The two halves were stark contrasts, the first was an even contest of strength and positioning; the second was a display of raw damage output that reduced the Chaquans to just 3 floored saurii at the final whistle.

2. Hashutites (2)

Won 2-1 vs Dwarverhampton Wanderers Hashutites equalled the QMLS Longest Undefeated Streak with 14 with an incredible win in the Dwarf Derby. In undwarfen fashion, the Chaotic battlers scored 2 astounding touchdowns that left the stadium in delirium with creative schemes taken from an elven playbook. Heresy? Maybe. Brilliant? Absolutely.

3. Lochaotic Rotten Posse (↔3)

Won 1-0 vs Darklands Resurrected

The Posse won under unusual circumstances as the Darklands suddenly disappeared at the stroke of half-time. A result that almost seals the a play-off spot. The first half was a display of brute strength as they cut down the formidable defence of the Undead into a manageable pulp.

4. Mersey Scythe (▲8)

Won 2-0 vs The Warpstone-Union

The Scythe survived a late game pummelling from the Warpstone lovers to secure their first ever franchise win in the QMLS and shutout. Perhaps the recently deceased are warming up at the mortuary? They will however, need fresh blood as this match served up a record equalling 11 injuries and 1 kill. The demise of promising the Flesh Golem will, however, set the team back.

5. Dwarverhampton Wanderers (▼4)

Lost 1-2 vs Hashutites

The Wanderers were undone by two indefensible moments of sheer luck to taste defeat for the first time since returning to the QMLS. It stung more as it was in the Dwarf Derby against bitter rivals, Hashutites. The Dwarfs best moment, however, was goal scorer extraordinaire, Paulie Dahlberg, who waltzed through tackles, dodged through the tiniest gaps and fended off every challenge!

6. Kouillus (▲11)

Won 2-0 vs LT's Metal Heads

Kouillus rekindled their playoff hopes with a much needed first win of their QMLS careers against the Metal Heads veterans. The conniving rats also showed their skaven predecessors how to deploy a wizard at a key moment, as a fireball crushed the human cage that encrouched their half. Victory came at the 3rd time of asking, and the team is moulding into a strong contender for the post season.

7. Underearth Assassins (▲10)

Won 1-0 vs Mega Smashers

The squad of Dark Elves brimming with star quality just about managed to squeeze a narrow 1-0 win to restore their push for a first-time playoff spot in the QMLS era. The game swung on two critical moments, the first from failing to capitalise on the Ogre's misfortune whilst the 2nd was from the Ogres dropping the ball with the goalline in sight. Nonetheless, the Assassins will be delighted to record their first win of the new season.

8. Golden Eternals of Chaqua (▼5)

Lost 1-0 vs EcuKhemrical Matters

The gut-wrenching site of Farmer Maggot's Farm was once again the venue that saw the Lizards lose. It seems that the soft turf surrounded by derelict farmland is the bane of Lustrian existence. The second half changed this well-fought Auld Firm Derby, as Golden Eternals were steamrolled into submission. With just 2 games left of the regular season, the Chaquans will need to rediscover last season's scintillating form to avoid an early (and surprising) exit.

9. LT's Metal Heads (▼6)

Lost 0-2 vs Kouillus

Forward momentum was stalled by untimely intervention from the heavens as the Metal Heads saw their offensive game crush under the weight of a fireball. The moment the rats stole the dropped ball it was virtually game over. However, much to the human's credit, the team manageed to force fumble in defence and almost stole an equaliser. But failing numbers began to take it's toll as the Metal Heads continue to taste defeat to pesky rat-folk.

10. Mega Smashers (▼7)

Lost 0-1 vs Underearth Assassins

The behemothic torment of ogres were left scratching their heads, not for the first time, as they contrived to squander a touchdown when it was easier to score! This defeat will feel bitter after a great display on offense had the Dark Elves cowering. The Ogres will have that sinking feeling that their early good work my not be enough to secure a top 4 finish in the MiddleLands Division.

11. Darklands Resurrected (▼9)

Lost 0-1 vs Lochaotic Rotten Posse

Darklands' hopes of a first ever post-season is in jeopardy after an unusual set of circumstances resulted in a defaulted 1-0 win to their opponents. The Undead did seem on the verge of defeat after receiving a pounding in the first half.

12. The Warpstone-Union (↔12)

Lost 0-2 vs Mersey Scythe

The Warpstone-Union showed their explosive side, as well as their familiar implosiveness, as they turned a game of cat and mouse into a rabid bloodbath. Both the Underworld and their Necromantic opponents were reduced to a 5-a-side contest in this entertaining game, but the defeat leaves them teetering on an early elimination.

Dwarverhampton Wanderers 1 (Paulie Dahlberg)

Darklands Resurrected 0

Win awarded to Lochaotic Rotten Posse

Mango's Valuable Player: The coach of Darklands Resurrected (Wayreth) who conceded under unfortunate cicumstances.
