Playoff Contenders Inseparable In Brutal Draw

OrcaLoca 1

Rutto

Dwarverhampton Wanderers 1

Regan Dahlberg

The first meeting between these old arch rivals ended in a thrilling contest of brute, murder and nimble touchdowns!

The end result favoured the Orcs, but it was a costly endeavour as they suffered two key deaths at the hands of their foes. Trollslayer Zigrin had a stellar start, killing orc Blitzer Sorram and knocking out another lineman in his first contribution.

Orc Thrower, Lancillotto, played his final game of his life but not before helping his side grind up the field to open the scoring. A touchback to Lancillotto opened a sequence of secured opening moves that repelled the dwarfs back into their half, but the opponents instantly retaliated with Zigrin surfing Sorram to him demise and dominated the orc’s left flank.

A switch to the right enabled the offense to march upfield, with tackling Blitzer Bifulc leading the way as he turned the game on its head by removing 3 dwarfs to give a telling numerical advantage.

Dwarverhampton’s scrambled back into defensive position and Paulie Dahlberg successfully brought the ball carrier down deep in their territory. With little time remaining and with the Orc drive close to collapse, Rutto the Blitzer picked up the marked ball, nimbly dodged through two tackles and made two precarious go-for-its for a sensational touchdown!

Dwarverhampton’s response almost fell into tatters after the restart, as Runner Paulie spilled the ball in plain sight. Gabber the Black Orc bull rushed through the line of scrimmage to mark Paulie, causing panic in the offensive side.

It was the dwarf’s turn to show their nifty footwork, as time and again they slipped through the tackles and ensured the rock was secured within their dwarfen cage inside the Orc’s half. Rutto needed a miracle to stop the equaliser, and it duly arrived as he sacked Paulie, forcing the ball off-field and into the grateful clutches of lineorc Mongee.

Once more the pendulum swung in the greenskin’s favour, but drama unfolded as Mongee was surfed the very next turn! And the ball landed at the feet of Runner Regan Dahlberg, who ran in to level the scores.

Both teams settled down and reorganised for one last push for victory, but neither side could make the telling blow ending in stalemate.

Orcs take a step to qualification but sacrifice two players to do so. Will losing a Blitzer and a Thrower hamper their chances of Championship success?

Both sides will feel they could have won, though, with both defences conceding under fortuitous circumstances.

OrcaLoca now sit second just two points behind their next opponents, Hashutites, whilst Dwarverhampton find themselves four points off the playoff spots with just 3 games remaining. A double header against the Crescent Moon will determine their fate in the hunt to be winners of the Quiçama Championship.
