Metal Heads Sink Darkland's Undead Hearts In Thriller

Darklands Resurrected 1

Marrowravager

LT's Metal Heads 2

Melvins, Palms

The Metal Heads defeated fellow play-off contenders Darklands Resurrected in a stormingly wet but entertaining game. Both teams were fully aware that defeat would hamper their progress to the semis, and went hell for leather in arguably the best game in the modern era of QMLS history.

Palms was the man for all seasons scoring the late winner.

Yet again the crowd that gathered outside the stadium in driving rain were left disappointed as the Darklands arrived in their usual style of just appearing in the stadium without a soul noticing, but the crowd did get the opportunity to see the Metal Heads arrive, who greeted all on their arrival as they entered the stadium in very confident mood for a game.

With the time approaching kick off the noise coming from the Heads dressing room was deafening as the local winners of the loudest band competition thrashed out their winning song,

Marrowravager sacked before half time!

The Heads entered the pitch looking pumped up to the maximum and that swagger showed as Devon Townsend found Melvins with a superb switch of play to give the catcher the entire half of the pitch to run in for the opening touchdown midway through the first half. It was only Melvins second of the season.

With the lead secured, the Heads who were being yelled at by their astute head coach from the technical area, kept the feared undead offence at bay as Dark Tranquility stopped freak of nature Marrowravager in his tracks, ending a run of four successive scoring offensive drives to go in at half time with a crucial lead.

Pole-axing the humungous Mummy was a team effort, and worth every soul.

But during the break and with the decibels going up a notch in the Heads dressing room the crowd were surprised to see the Darklands head coach sit in his dug out with his players still in the dressing room leaving the crowd murmuring as to what had happened?

Whatever was said at half time worked, as the Darklands came out all fired up as the leagues top scorer Marrowravager, avoided 2 challenges on his way to levelling the scores with a superb end zone to end zone touchdown. The pressure was mounting as the enigmatic head coach unusually visible in front of the supporters - this was the coach that had the original Darklands oufit destroyed and resurrected at the end of Season IX.

In search of a winner, the Metal Heads abandoned the pass protection to prepare for a Hail Mary from Isis, but the exposed thrower was ruthlessly floored by the blitzing Doug Graves, who collected the prone ball in what looked like the crucial take away touchdown.

The animated Metal Head's coach furiously beckoned his players to race back with Lord Dying aiding the blitzing Enslave to flatten Graves, this left Isis to clamber off the floor to collect the prone ball and launch it to the sideline marked Palms, who brilliantly collected under pressure from Helmut the Orator and weave his way to score the late winner.

It was a sensational ending to a truly engaging game to the end with both teams leaving the pitch to a standing ovation in approval of two fine teams giving it there all.

Up next...this was only the Darklands second defeat of the season but now find themselves in the chasing pack and now race a must win against the greenskins of OrcaLoca while the Heads buoyed by this win take on previous champions in Hashutites in another huge game for both.

Riska's MVP: Palms athleticism in the rain proved to be vital in securing the match winner.
