It's the final week of QMLS XI and we are still none the wiser as to which four teams will make it to the playoffs. Hashutites confirmed their place with a dominant display, but there is a 6 team scrap for the remaining 2! All to play for as we head into the last round of games.
1. Bognor Bograts (Last Week ↔1) Won 4-1 vs Golden Eternals of Chaqua
Bograts secured the Divisional title in emphatic style against a determined Lizardmen team seeking revenge against the furry destroyers of Chaqua. The opportunisitc rats swarmed on every fumble and capitalised on their ability to strip ball for 3 defensive takeaways.
With 1 game left of the regular season, it'll be up to their old Chaotic driven foes, Hashutites, to prevent a first ever clean sweep of the League.
2. Hashutites (↔2) Won 2-0 vs LT's Metal Heads
The destructive force of the Hashutites shattered through the Metal Heads to confirm their status as QMLS heavyweights. Another clean sheet was the backbone to this victory as they had virtual control of the match from the first whistle.
The Chorfs go into the final round undefeated against their Chaotically aligned foes, the Bograts, in what many are considering a rehearsal of this season's final.
3. Darklands Resurrected (▲5) Won 1-0 vs OrcaLoca
Darklands have shot up the league in incredible fashion and have had the pundits purring in admiration. Last season's whipping boys are now the vanguard of the chasing pack. They picked their moments well against the beleagured orcs, dominating a bashy contest.
Darklands must gain a result in the final week better than both the GEC and Metal Heads for any hope of a playoff spot. It doesn't get harder than in the Death Derby against Ecukhemrical Matters, however, who are harbouring outside hopes of a top 4 spot.
4. LT's Metal Heads (▼3) Lost 2-0 vs Hashutites
A humbling at the hands of Hashutites had the Metal Heads banging their crania in disbelief. Losing key blitzer, veteran mighty blow expert Mgla, early on had the humans cowering for cover as the chaos dwarfen charge rolled on.
A playoff spot looks a near certainty, as they face off against the travelling pack of Ogres to Amarillo. The humans also have a strong head to head record against fellow semi-final prospectives.
5. Golden Eternals of Chaqua (▼4) Lost 1-4 vs Bognor Bograts
The blood of ancient ones boiled over at the sight of their auld scurrying adversaries. Indeed, their focus on mass slaughter succeeded where their famed football-flair failed.
The GEC suffered a franchise record defeat in exchange for killing two and maiming another two amongst the violence. A job well-done perhaps, but the loss of focus see the Lizardmen slip down the pecking order - they'll need to get their act together as a play-off is not yet sealed. The cold-blooded dark horses, however, look primed to stay the course.
6. Underearth Assassins (▲7) Won 3-1 vs EcuKhemrical Matters
A resurgent Assassins wracked up the touchdowns to cement their status as a high powered offensive side with playmakers everywhere. Facing the formidable strength of the Khemri, the game hinged on their opponents' inability to pick up the ball.
Just weeks ago, the team were facing a lengthy challenge to rebuild in the post-season but, thanks to their smothering defence, the darkies are once again serious contenders for the QMLS crown!
7. Spikerøg Draaks (▲8) Won 2-1 vs Trololololololo
Spikerøg left it late to beat a stubborn Ogre outfit and had to come from behind at half-time to stage a remarkable comeback. In the disturbing presence of their new Yhetee, the Norse have found some much needed strength to shore up the defence.
It's all to play for against fellow hopefuls, Underearth Assassins, with victory not even enough to confirm a spot in the last 4. If there is one thing these men have shown us this season, they play with heart and will brawl their way any which way but loose.
8. EcuKhemrical Matters (▼6) Lost 1-3 vs Underearth Assassins
The early season charge from the Tomb Kings evaporated with a stinging defeat against their Dark Elves playoff rivals. The scoreline did not reflect the nature of the game, as the bandaged ones were in prime position to take a draw at the least.
An unfortunate spill (where have we heard that before?) and an improbable reverse pancake on the ballcarrier were all it needed for the Assassins to go in for the kill. With four defeats on the bounce, EcuKhemrical hopes are now out of their destiny even with a win in their last league game against fellow Undeads.
9. OrcaLoca (↔9) Lost 0-1 vs Darklands Resurrected
The orcs came acropper after an improved second half to the season. It took a moment of ghoul magic to beat these thick greenskinned veterans, but it's little consolation for a campaign that hasn't lived up to expectation. There are ingredients for a strong season next time out, but they'll need to improve their offensive weapons.
10. Trololololololo (↔10) Lost 1-2 vs Spikerøg Draaks
Measuring 6.7 on the Richter Scale, the Amarillians gave the bareskinned Northerners a run for their money with a tight offensive display centered around some well behaving ogres. It's 2 defeats in 2 for the newest QMLS franchise, but they've notched up a respectable tally of 2 TDs! The outfit have shown function as well as flair in their opening 2 exchanges.
