Hashutites Weather Darkland's Storm To Rescue Point

Darklands Resurrected 1

Doug Graves

Hashutites 1

Ögedei

Darklands Resurrected were denied a famous win over their illustrious opponents, Hashutites, as the visitors to the Darkland's catacoombs grabbed a late equaliser the home crowd felt they barely deserved. It was a fine all-round performance from the undead that kept them in touch with the early season pace-setters. Hashutites, however, will feel relieved to come out with a draw after a battering on the field.

Darkland's Dagg was instrumental in the draw against perennial favourites Hashutites.

The Resurrected mummies were instrumental in mounting a threatening defence in the the first half, as they bullied the dwarfs into submission. Seeing no inch given down the middle, Hashutite's running game wheeled down the right flank with Ferdinand lead-blocking.

The monumental figure of Dagg's sprint to shore up the defence thrusted fear into the offensive cage as the great mummy smashed into the cage. It was an inspiring charge, that had rookie wight, Doug Graves, joining the fray injuring key player Fharlak Dyingfeet. Though not a serious injury, the high priest in the stands summond the dark medics to resuscitate the dwarfen superstar.

Fharlak was not the first to suffer from the defender's onslaught as Dagg the Mummy shattered QMLS veteran Thagrak Daemonball's collar bone. Thagrak was an ever present figure since the QMLS was re-founded and his influential expertise on the field was missing after coming off on a stretcher. Down two key chorfs, the offensive drive was shredded by the sidelines.

Ögedei found himself pricariously hemmed in with Dagg, Doug Graves and superstar Nekbrekerekh dominating the flank, and it was a matter of time for the hobgoblin to be pushed off field with ball in hand. The ball returned further than any Hashutite had run, but no defender was in sight to reach it.

A sense of inevitability rung around the stadium as the great bull Bultar blitzed through the centre and picked up the loose ball. It was a short-lived attack, however, as Rigor pulled off the sack that ensured the game ended 0-0 at half-time.

The second half showcased Darkland's versatile approach to offense as they pummelled down field to set up a passing play with Doug Graves and Corpsemuncher running well- rehearsed deep patterns to spread the defenders.

Hashutites were stretched thin, and eventually buckled after Fharlak was once again removed from the match, this time by Dagg who was having a statement game. Fharlak was last seen cowering in the infirmary from the KO. He wouldn't return.

Once the hole through the defence materialised, Marrowravager, rushed through and launched a glorious ball into the endzone for Doug Graves to score his career first TD. Seeing time slip away and the sight of Dagg leading a charge through centre once more, the outnumbered Hashutites forged a scrum on the left to keep away from the influential mummies. In a swift response, Ögedei found space behind the bull centaurs to rush in an equaliser.

Doug Graves scored his career first TD and offered to dig a grave for Farkan Tinthroat.

The fans rioted in the stands and forced the officials to delay the restart, it was a decision that put pay to any hope of a Darkland's victory as they had set up for a Hail Mary. It wasn't to be, but they will feel their beating undead hearts lift as they held Hashutites to a credible draw.

Darklands have the chance to close the gap on the top 4 as they play Golden Eternals of Chaqua, whilst Hashutites (with two new blockers) lining up against the glass cannon Draaks of the north.

Mango's MVP: Dagg the mummy came of age with a performance that wrecked through dwarfen lines. He hunted down the dangerous Fharlak and lead from the front. A magnificent performance.
