OrcaLoca 0
Hashutites 1
Ögedei
Hashutites secured the points to see them into the play off's for a second consecutive season, but had to work hard against a spirited OrcaLoca, who came within a shoelace of snatching what would have been a thoroughly deserved point in a game the greenskins dominated.
The green horde arrived in typical orc fashion for their huge match up against the chaos dwarf Hashutites, early, with a real sense of menace. But of all the teams plying their trade in the QMLS, the locals never try to antagonise the followers of OrcaLoca. Pay your dues (even when not warranted) and the mass of greenskins that congregate before each game won’t demolish all that’s in their path.
Even after such a disappointing season, OrcaLoca have a following like no other and are feared for their brutality and the mass of disappearances that have accompanied their every move, with whispers that those who don’t agree to their every wish are quickly disposed off with shallow graves and concrete slabs a favourite, though this has never and will never be found as true.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the stadium, the chaos dwarf BOOM brothers were preparing for yet another performance in front of the radio mics.
Their blend of commentary, statistics and humour has made them firm favourites to everyone that listens and as the game between OrcaLoca and Hashutites kicked off so did the BOOM...
“Goooooood evening blood bowl fans, what a treat we have in store for you, ain’t that right Rick?”
“Certainly is Nick”
“It’s our favourite sons of chaos against the vile green things know as orcs”
“Can’t wait for this Nick”
“Neither can I Rick”
"The sun is beating down hard, no one's too happy about that Nick"
"Well I certainly am not Rick and I'm just watching"
"AND IT'S A BLITZ! with the Orcs ready do so some pummeling on the receiving Dorfs! but careful repositioning sees no damage done but a proper push down one wide zone."
"Not the start we wanted to see Nick"
"Oh, the short legs betray the stunties and the cage is not quite where it should be, theres just too many Orcs on the field Rick"
" Hang on Nick, the Orcs still have a chance to blitz the ballcarrier...but they don't! Instead, they cause as much damage as they can!!
"But Ögedei is in a position to score...with his team mates returning the favour, but without success... AND IT'S A TD HASHUTITES!"
"Well that was hard work Rick"
"Yes Nick, had me worried for all of 10 seconds there Nick"
"It's mostly a hazing ritual though, nothing of consequence happens and even the ritual stomp-the-dwarf is done with little real enthusiasm."
" I see the sun has knocked out two dwarfs Nick, along with a hobgob and a black orc, leaving Hashutites with 9 players on the field against a full contingent of receiving Orcs….this looks like a brutal Orc half Rick"
"The punching and stomping begins, but the Orcs have forgotten their stomping boots. Only sneakers today!"
" The Orc push is relentless Rick"
"and there's more pushing and shoving, but nothing can budge the Orc wall. Especially not when the hamburger-to-be keeps napping Nick"
"Hobgoblins get pushed all over the place...It's just about walking it in now... A last pass succeeds... AND HE STUMBLES ON THE TD LINE!"
"OH WOW Nick…WHAT AN ENDING"
"Words fail me Rick"
"And the game ends with Ferdinand getting punched in the face by a Troll, a fitting symbol of the match as a whole I'd say Nick"
"Must agree with you there Rick"
So to the theme of the season and even after OrcaLoca had put in their best performance of the campaign restricting the dwarfs to only 38 yards rushing, their lowest of the season, Hashutites secured a 1-0 victory courtesy of Ögedei's fourth touchdown of the season and after the agonising offensive drive stopped short of the end zone it left the green menace to filter out of the ground with familiar feelings.
Dispersing from the stadium the main orcs of the horde stayed put as normal, talking between one and other before leaving, and as normal a local establishment was made to fork out money. Nothing was said and only a few fingers were broken along with a broken nose and the typical one ear as a momentum.
Up next…The orcs put in a performance that showed what the greenskins are capable of, as they battered and bruised their much higher placed opponents, but a last minute fumble cost them dear and after all the effort came away with nothing, but they must surely take heart from this performance in which they dominated the ex-champions and will need to produce similar when they take on the Darklands Resurrected, while Hashutites know that a second consecutive play off spot is theirs as the aim reclaim the biggest prize of all, but first… a meeting against fellow play off contenders LTs Metal Heads.
Riska's MVP: It took the nimbleness of Ögedei to break the deadlock and steal the win. The OrcaLoca blitzer, Bifulc, was a menace to the bull centaurs all night, but the decisive break from Ögedei settled the game.
