Hashutites 2
Marnak Darkstabber, Ogedei
Golden Eternals of Chaqua 1
Oatluax du Lac
Hashutites charged into the QMLS XI Final in emphatic style against a beleaguered Lizardmen after a mightily fine blocking display in the second half almost cleared the pitch of any cold-blooded Lustrians.
Talk of the prospects of a cup upset was abound, as some pundits felt that the Saurii would have the initiative in the blocking game, but a combination of Ferdinand's surfing escapades and the famed school of claw-killers ended this trilling bout midway through the second half.
The two sides delivered an exciting attacking brand of blood bowl with Hashutites taking an early lead with Marnak breaking tackles to run in for the touchdown. Inspired by the aggressive approach with the ball, super-skink Oatluax du Lac scored a quick equaliser to set up a fascinating encounter.
Indeed, the Hashutites failed to protect the ball, which almost enabled Oatluax to steal away. However, the hyper agile skink contrived to fail a dodge when it was within the grasp of the takeaway. The failure would trigger a stunning collapse near the end of the half, with the death of Xholtenqtsa and the injury to Otzotl, the guard saurii.
The second half began with the Hashutites sensing opportunity as the usually reliable Kroxigor boneheaded frequently. The Lizard cage was crushed to expose Oatluax to the flying hooves of Marnak, who began the process of dismantling the GEC's offensive drive.
No sooner had the Hashutites grabbed the initiative with the ball in the hands of freak hobbo, Ogedei, the clawed twins of Fharlakk and Fharikk began shredding into the scaley plates of the tall saurii.
It became a desperate defence on the part of the skinks to retain the ball, but the speedsters lacked the punch to release the ball from Ogedei's suffocating grip. The overgrown slave obeyed his superiors to run in the killer score to end the contest.
The contest petered out into a procession of cheers worthy of the imposing towers of Zharr-Naggrund. Dishing out 8 injuries and two deaths cemented their frightning reputation as killers of all-comers in the QMLS. The menace that the Hashutites showed in the second half places them fine stead for the Grand Final.
Mango's Valuable Player: Marnak Darkstabber was the difference between the teams at critical times. His ability to dodge away for the first score and then the game-changing sack in the second half, were a magestic reflection of his imposing contribution to the win.
