Hejami, Bultar the Great

Hashutites edged a thriller on the sidelines with a stellar win against QMLS rookies Underearth Assassins to maintain their winning run stretching 5 games with an incredible 5 shutouts. The title holders look impregnable at the back!

The QMLS lifted the ban on other stadiums hosting matches as perpetual games at the Farmer Maggot Fields was draining on resources, and the fans were in for a treat in this blockbuster of a game!

The Dark Elves had glimpses of the endzone in the first half but failed to convert their precious opportunities, whilst their illustrious visitors ground out the hard yards to put pay to the Assassins’ hopes of a maiden win.

A perfectly short kick from Hashutites had the hosts scrambling at the very start. Celmair had little alternative but to play a high risk manoeuvre by picking the ball in plain sight of defenders and tossing it half way backfield in the secure hands of Gedlil.

Underearth pinpointed Bultar the Great as the target in order to flood through, and they pinned him against the left sideline, whilst Galddor ran a deep route through the seam.

A combination of good blitzes and Fharlak's claw were decisive tonight.

In response, the Chaos Dwarfs reorganised the centre and squeezed play in midfield. Marnak the bull centaur blitzed through using his immense strength and crushed Gedlil the ball carrier. The ball popped invitingly into the perplexed hands of Thagrak Daemonball. His bemused face was soon seeing stars as he was injured moments after by a splendid uppercut by Kyrbean.

Once more the ball was loose on the ground with neither side succeeding in protecting the ball, until hobgoblin Hejami slipped through unnoticed to convert the turnover. It was a punishing lesson in ball retention from the Hashutite pack.

The second half began surprisingly with Underearth Assassins outnumbering their chaos counterparts 10 v 9. The variable weather conditions denied the renowned speed of the bull centaurs as the second half became a slippery ice-rink.

Unfortunately for the Elves, a regrettably poor kick touchback into the strong hands of Bultar the Great, who proved an immense obstacle to halt.

Only 5 Elves remained after the second half onslaught.

A thrilling sideline contest swung the game heavily in Hashutites’ favour as the dwarfs proved conclusively that they were not for surfing. Numerous Dark Elves tripped over perilous perimeter, whilst Fharlak put his claw to devastating effect. The hosts were soon whittled to five as the dwarfen machine chewed through the defence.

Though outnumbered, Underearth still forged a resolute display and earned a shot at the ball, with Lanrion sacking Bultar deep in their half. But a poor pickup allowed Bultar a second chance, which he took with aplomb to secure his 3rd touchdown in 2 games.

Hashutites roll on to Week 3 full of confidence as they meet up with the quick, yet brutal, guys from LT's Metal Heads. Both sides have shown a sturdy defensive game, though the Chaos Dwarfs have a proven record of grinding results.

The Underearth Assassins will face a completely different proposition against a plucky-though-unlucky Darklands Resurrected. A fascinating prospect with both sides aiming to score their first win to keep in touch with the early QMLS pace-setters.

Mango’s Valuable Player: Fharlak Dyingfeet was instrumental in opening gaps for Hashutites to exploit. He single-handedly dominated the midfield and struck fear into the hearts of his Elven opponents with his incredible, mutated claw.
