Darklands Resurrected 0
Hashutites 3
Fharlak Dyingfeet, Brodai, Fharikk Deadface
Count Luthor von Drakenborg entered the QMLS arena for the first time this season but the vampiric superstar could not hold back the floodgates as Hashutites pressed their numerical supremacy in the second half.
Darklands Resurrected began with confidence after an impressive 3-game undefeated streak, but that looked under threat the moment Ferdinand the minotaur blitzed through the early cage to surf the mighty blowing Wight, Helmut the Orator.
A sense of calm pitch control eminated from the chaos dwarfs as they mechanically churned through the offensive line. Dagg, the league's strongest player, spearheaded a counter through the centre that temporarily caused concern, but Marrowravager the ball carrier did not read the script - tackled by Hejami the sure-handed kicking hobgoblin.
With the ball surrounded by dwarfen defenders, it seemed just a matter of time for the visitors to score, but the motley crew contrived to repetitively fumble. In frustration, the dwarfs shoved Ben the Dead zombie off the pitch and who permanently turned into many pieces of matchday souvenirs for the audience.
Only divine inspiration from the High Priest of Hashutites helped guide a dreadfully bouncing ball off field and into the razor sharp claws of Fharlak -the astute use of his mutation was not seen by the match officials. A pedestrian race between mummies and dwarfs ensued, but Fharlak was not to be denied the first score of the night. In anger, Dagg, retaliated by crushing Ferdinand's hand with a hit so hard, the big cow's ancestors shuddered. The minotaur will miss the semi-final!
The raucous crowd, after tasting zombie flesh at half-time, invaded the pitch in the hunt for more limbs and bones. Half the playing staff were stunned and the other half shambled toward the ball that was kicked in an unprotected zone on the offensive right.
The duantless Fharlak showed great tenacity in challenging every mummy he could claw into, as he stunned one and knocked out the other undead giants in swift succession. Gaps in defence bagan to open and release acres of open field and the hobgoblins, the playful slaves that they are, combined to pass and hand-off to Brodai who jaunted in the second.
With little to play for, Darklands turned to foul-play whilst Count Luthor (having a quiet game) picked up the ball, only to go down for the errr.... count when trying to slip through the horde of defenders.
A clever uppercut by Zargon Ironbeard, with half the team assisting, floored the mountainous Dagg. An invitation that Ögedei, the dirty player, could not resist as a crafty left boot knocked out the last mummy. A third touchdown was a formality as Fharikk Deadface saunters in for his career first touchdown to complete a 3-0 rout.
Hashutites go into the post-season harbouring hopes of being Divisional Champions, but will require results to go their way. They have struck a rich vein of form in the right time and possess all the tools to become back to back champions in the QMLS.
Darklands Resurrected were out-fought tonight, but the young undead look a promising outfit for next season. With a fleshed out squad to support the team's killers, the violence looks set to continue.
Mango's Valuable Player: Fharlak Dyingfeet's claws were put to various use tonight. His self-belief in challenging any beast of any strength was key to prying open the door to the undead's underbelly. His phenomenal catch from the crowd in the first half was the turning point in this contest - there may be a steward's enquiry to illegal use of claws to puncure the ball.
But this this Blood Bowl!
