Hashutites 2
Fharikk Deadface 2
Celestial Comedy 0
Hashutites booked their spot for QMLS X Final with a resounding win against Celestial Comedy to set up an enticing rematch against Chaos foes Bognor Bograts. The commanding performance will give the Dwarfs great hope in retaining the coveted trophy in back-to-back seasons.
After the Celestial Comedy had been decimated in their final regular season game, and with a record breaking 900TV value between the teams, they called upon the services of 5 mercenaries along with superstar Jordel Freshbreeze to bolster their threadbare squad against the reigning champions Hashutites in this second semi final.
Fharikk Deadface celebrates his opening score.
But from the off Hashutites showed rugged determination as they ruthlessly and methodically disposed of their elven opponents. The loss of star player Freshbreeze to a thunderous knockout blow in the first phase was critical to Elven aspiration, but his reintroduction near the end of the game sealed their fate.
Experienced hobgoblin Hejami Bonecatcher has proven a loyal subject, collecting the kick off, whilst his masters in front pulverised any oponent. He found shelter behind the dwarven juggernaut that powered through the helpless Comedy defensive line. Bonecatcher marched upfield, shielded perfectly by his lords and masters, and with time ebbing away in the half Bonecatchers short pass to dwarf Deadface brought delight to the crowd as he ran in for the opening touchdown with only 6 elven players left on the field.
There seemed time for an equaliser before half-time, but once more the 'go for broke' offensive play evaporated as Bonecatcher blitzed and sacked the speedster Augglinarin, just 8 yards away from the endzone. The sack secured a 1-0 lead that the interval.
With the second half kicking off, Freshbreeze was still nowhere to be seen for the Comedy as the medical team again failed to revive their expensive acquisition and to make things even worse for the elves, yet another player straight from kick off was carried off as Matholor collected the ball on his own end zone with only 7 covering players ahead of him.
It was make or break for the Comedy as Matgolor handed off to blitzer Noroos who's attempted break through the defensive line failed and in his attempt for cover was charged down by Gharrack Steelfist and with a bludgeon of a right fist Noroos was down and off the field as the ball lay prone on the floor with Comedy out of possession and after another dwarven phase had left them with 3 players.
It left Deadface the easiest of touchdowns to leave to score out of reach for the luckless elves, so when Freshbreeze finally made his return with 2 phases of the game remaining it was met to a chorus of boos from the elven supporters as they lined up with only 6 players but this didn't stop another brave attempt as Augglinarin went for glory again only to be floored...again and the tie was over. Hashutites progress to meet their arch rivials, the Bognor Bograts, in Superleague X while the Comedy reflect on what could have been, though nothing will take away what entertainment they've brought this season.
Riska's MVP - Fharikk Deadface, you can't ignore 2 touchdowns which took the warped braided beards one game away from history.
