Golden Eternals Stun Vampires With Surprise Victory

Crescent Moon 0

Golden Eternals of Chaqua 1

Oatluax du Lac

League debutants Golden Eternals of Chaqua secured a famous win in a closely-fought action-packed contest against their more established foes, and sent a message to the rest of the Superleague that the Lizardmen were not to be trifled with.

The blend of speed and strength helped the lizards to their first win and touchdown.

The game sparked into action with the death of a beastly saurus at the hands of a lowly thrall, whilst Ali went skink hunting and open up space deep in the Chaqua’s territory. A pass from Abu Bakr failed to hit it’s destination and the ball bobbled off-field, with Ali taking out his fury on two skinks. The vampires were players up but were caught out of position by the toss from the crowd as the ball bounced into play within the grasp of the lizards.

The situation was rescued for Crescent Moon by thrall Salah ud-Din and looked certain to score, but was thwarted by a timely high-light reel last-ditch hit from skink Oatluax du Lac. The forced fumble sent the ball carrier to the reserve box, which initiated a sequence of powerful hits that knocked out numerous thralls and granted Chaqua field position.

Only the clock denied Oatluax, who scooped up the loose ball and briefly threatened a late counter, to send the game into half-time scoreless.

Returning for the second half, all KO’d Crescent Moon players returned to give a numerical advantage. But true to the unpredictable nature of vampires, it was the blood lusting starts that whittled their own team to a disadvantage!

Oatluax, fresh from his first half exploits responded quickest to the coffin corner kick that landed on the Golden Eternals’ end-zone, risked the weather and picked up the ball from it’s precarious position and brought it to safety within a crowd of Sauruses.

A good round of blocks removed more thralls from the pitch, leaving just the vampires to hold the defence together. The interference with the supply chain proved costly for the Crescent Moon as Abu Bakr was punished with ejection from the drive due to a failed dodge.

Unperturbed by the inevitable touchdown, Ali focused on the business of blood with another trademark piling on power-slam to injure another saurus! With the field splattered with the hallmark of vampirism, Oatluax took no hesitation to run into for the sole touchdown. Oatluax is the first player in the new era of the QMLS to score a touchdown by running from one end-zone to the other!

The heavens opened in time for the kick-off and it certainly interfered with the footing of the desperate vampires. Time was short for an equaliser, but Crescent Moon fashioned a chance through the centre with brute force. The target was goalscorer Oatluax, who led a charmed life as he survived the frightful sight of the charging Vampire, Umar, watching the latter slip in rain going for the big hit causing a self-inflicted wound. Hopes of an equaliser soon dissipated once Abu Bakr comically followed his undead compatriot with a failed go-for-it of his own to end the match on a sour note.

After the torrid second half where thralls were removed at an alarming rate, Ertugrul was asked whether he was the post-match snack, to which he replied, "Only on a bad day, my position as senior thrall gets me off the hook more often than not! Saladin is the Amir's favourite, Kurdish blood seems to be to their taste more than Turk."

Saladin is tied with Abdul-Rahman for the most injuries sustained in the Crescent Moon, with 5 and has suffered the most KO's sustained by any thrall.

With much of the season left to play for, Crescent Moon will want to banish their misfortune in this game and bounce back against Pro Elves the Celestial Comedy. For the lizardmen, their next game will be against Season IX runners up Bognor Bograts and an early chance of revenge against the Skaven race.

Mango’s Valuable Player: Oatluax du Lac ran the full length of the field to score the only touchdown. He also produced a match-saving sack on the ball carrier to ensure league debutants Golden Eternals of Chaqua secure an impressive win.
