Golden Eternals of Chaqua 1
Otl du Lac
Darklands Resurrected 1
Marrowravager
Darklands Resurrected secured their first point of the campaign in a see-saw contest against the Golden Eternals. The draw dealt a blow to both teams prospects of the play-offs, but both left the field happy to stop the mounting list of defeats.
The undead outfit made tough work from the outset with a sudden death of wight star, Ivan Dragonslayer, as his skull was permanently crushed when blitzing the Kroxigor. The trouble was 2-fold, as the failed blitzed allowed the cold-blooded skinks go ball-hunting deep in the Darkland's territory.
The pursuit was nullified, just, by the nimble work of Marrowravager, who used his Elf-like agility to retrieve the precarious ball and score near the end of the first half, while using good use of the supporting cast of sticky zombies.
By the restart, Golden Eternals were reduced to 7 versus the 10 undead, and their troubles were compounded by the loss of the Krox to injury. The tenacious shambling corpses made life a misery for the sauruses with their stubborn figures, with Tom Post-Mortem typifying the sound display as he smashed the knee of a saurus (Otzotl) and twice sacking the much speedier skinks.
With the skinks finding themselves short in protection, the sole blitzer, Helmut, picked off the remaining little stunty speed demons one-by-one. But he had no answer to the slippery escapades of Otl du Lac, who nutmegged his entire body between the legs of the wight to run in the equalising touchdown.
Time favoured the Darklands and they made swift progress down the flanks with Marrowravager the architect for a rapid slipstream. There was desperation in the Chaquan defence, but their high risk pressure paid-off with Gant-tlu sacking the ball carrier.
The ball would never find safety again until the final whistle, but not without the unpredictable ball running from skink and ghoul. It remains to be seen whether either team can qualify for the finals, but both went down in one of the most open blood bowl contest in recent weeks!
When asked about how the loss of a Wight early in the match affected team morale, the Darklands Resurrected head coach stated, "At Darklands Resurrected we despise weakness. He will not be missed"
Mango's Valuable Player: Tom Post-Mortem showed speed and agility beyond the normal scope of zombies by keeping up with skinks and causing 2 forced fumbles. The crowning glory of the night was taking the name of a giant saurus.
