Champions Hashutites Put Amazone To The Sword

Hashutites 2

Bultar the Great (2)

Amazone Prime 0

Hashutites continued their fine championship form from Season IX into the new season with a highly polished performance against Amazone Prime. It was their fourth straight clean sheet victory and already the reigning champions are touted as hot favourites to retain the crown.

Bultar perfectly synced with his new team-mates scoring an impressive brace.

The untested Amazone Prime could not have wished for a worse start as the stadium’s stewards hapless attempts to control rowdy home crowd failed. The field swarmed with a pitch invasion that stunned 7 Amazonians, leaving a gaping hole through midfield for the Dwarfs to mark their fallen foes.

The situation was compounded by the first surf of the season, with bull centaur extraordinaire Marnak cracking through the thin line. Hejami the hobgoblin handed the ball to rookie Bultar the Great, who replaced the veteran star Urken Burntfoot.

The riotous home crowd brutally crushed the Amazone defence.

With the fallen women marked by the tackling dwarfs, all dodges had an element of risk which multiplied the casualty count, whilst Fharlak Dyingfeet produced a spectacularly violent display by smashing through anyone who stood next to him. Tereis Evadne was his first victim with a sharp strike that shattered her jaw; soon followed by Alkidike who suffered a pinched nerve.

Midway through the first half, Fharlak chewed through the rest of the side, injuring Zerynthia and knocking out another! The defence melted away allowing Bultar the simplest of runs to score on his debut.

Time remained for a late rally in the first half, but once more the crowd spilled onto the ground and thumped the lights out of most the remaining Amazonians, leaving 2 women left standing. Any hope of a late equaliser was quelled before it had begun!

Amazone Prime could not break through the tough ranks of Hashutites.

Strong words from the Prime’s coaching staff with the league officials had some effect, as the home support were “better behaved” for the duration of the match. It did little to temper Fharlak’s thunderous assault as he continued to knock out any opponent before him.

Hashutites flooded through the centre to press the unfortunate spill by Alkippe, but the linewoman composed herself under the strain to sweep from the right flank to relative safety in the centre behind a wall of team-mates.

Fharlak's body count was truly impressive.

As comrades fell by the wayside, the Prime cage was expertly shaven to unravel the offensive drive. In a pincer move, with guard dwarf Farkan acting as anvil, the 2 centaurs hammered in tandem, which forced the handling error from Antianara the Dancer.

Her desperate handoff failed to connect and the ball scattered to the safe hands of Bultar. Fharlak took his one last opportunity to imprint his majestic performance with aplomb, as he killed a linewoman to add to his mounting collection of skulls. Bultar completed the rout with his second score and end the match with a brace.

The QMLS currently averages 1 death per match in Season X - long may that continue!

Hashutites visit another new side in the form of Dark Elves, the Underearth Assassins, whilst Amazone Prime journey into the unknown as they face Darklands Resurrected. Both promise to be fascinating contests in Week 2 of the QMLS.

Mango’s Valuable Player: Fharlak Dyingfeet. Under normal circumstances scoring 2 TDs in a tight scoring contest would earn the MVP, but Fharlak Dyingfeet had a colossal game with 1 kill, 3 casualties and 3 KOs to his name. A critical contribution to his side’s victory.
