Darklands 0
Bognor Bograts 3
Snabyj Bruiser, Head-Lhyce Creep, Gruff Rhys-Jones
The carnival atmosphere at the Darklands Stadium turned sour with protestations in the terraces and whispers of discontent amongst Darklands’ coaching staff as the Bognor Bograts became the first team to reach the Superleague final with their fourth win on the spin.
Bograts kicker, Kreelut, sent Helmut Alban deep in his own territory with a trademark coffin-punt. Alban then quickly gave the reigns to a true superstar of the game, legendary Griff Oberwald. Griff’s cameo began in earnest as he carried the ball to midfield to cheers of the home support. But before the offensive cage could be formed, gutter runner Gruff Rhys-Jones wrestled Griff to the ground with fellow runner and Big-Handed mutant Head-Lhyce Creep collecting the loose ball.
This quite literally stunned the Darklands, and in a flash the Bograts had broken through the gaping hole left in the Darklands line to leave Creep the freedom of the park, only to unselfishly pass the ball to Snabyj Bruiser to score the opening touchdown.

Screeches of derision could be heard and panic swept through the rattled Darklands on the restart. Alban, nerves affected by the crowd’s frustration, failed his pick up, which invited Leeose Chitter to punch a whole through a ragged offensive line to allow the Bograts quartet of speedy runners to swarm through and bare down on a visibly flustered Alban.
The rats marked their opponents tightly, isolating Alban, who failed a second pick up leaving Head-Lhyce Creep the easiest of touchdowns to take the Bograts into a commanding half time lead. It was a defensive master class by the Skaven and a half to forget for Oberwald and the Darklands.
The half-time whistle unleashed the fury in the stands that could no longer be contained, as the fans turned their attention on their own players with jeers and missiles.
Ironic cheers greeted the surfing of Blitzer, Gunther Urguhart, by frenzied Rogre Breaknut. With hopes fading of pulling the game back, the mighty Oberwald took matters into his own hands but he too was stiff armed by Breaknut from the sidelines.

Darklands could not cope with the lightning attack of their furry visitors, and within a phase, the Bograts has gone from one end of the pitch to the other, as Head-Lhyce Creep collected, ran and then passed the ball to fellow runner Snablutch Slobber who jinked his way through the Darklands defence and break clear of the half way line scuffles.
Only a superb late challenge by Alban prevented the score. He then collected the fumbled ball to give the Darklands possession, but in front of him was yet again a surge of rats bearing down. Before he could adjust his footing, he was surfed off the pitch with the ball popping loose.
Head-Lhyce Creep again collected, and began a series of bamboozling plays involving all the gutter runners straight from the training ground, which was expertly converted with a pass to Gruff Rhys-Jones who ran in the third in only phase 12.

With still a quarter of the match remaining Oberwald decided to take matters into his own hands and from deep in his own half darted through unopposed but what was said to him as he bared down on goal to secure a late consolation only he will know. He stopped inches from the Bograts goal line, turned around and launched the ball back into the melee on the half way line where the Bograts ran down the clock to end the most bizarre game of the season.
The Darkland coach’s malcontent was palpable. Post-match, Bognor’s new signing, Jarate Leto, revealed that the Darkland’s coach was seen speaking in the shadows with a known necromancer. These are unusual times for the human team; can they get themselves over the finishing line against their next opponents, Crescent Moon?
As for Bognor, the rodents secured a spot in the final and will face either Hashutites or OrcaLoca. A potential dress-rehearsal on Week 10 may reveal all as Bognor face Hashutites.

Mango’s Valuable Player: Head-Lhyce Creep. The playmaker had a BIG HAND in all three Bograts touchdowns.
