Darklands Resurrected 1
Marrowravager
Bognor Bograts 2
Snablutch Slobber, Berndt Haas
The Bognor Bograts continued their defence of the title with victory against inform Darklands Resurrected with star runner Snablutch Slobber making the difference, but it's Darklands Marrowravager that takes the plaudits with a season highlight.
The scurrying vermin were straight out the traps and immediately pressurised the Darklands ball carrier, wight Helmut the Orator and before his offensive line was set, star runner Snablutch Slobber had dropped Orator with a great tackle and gathered the prone pigs bladder to score in a ominous start from the champions. The restart saw a quick formation change for the rats with Orator again collecting the kick off as the Darklands quickly moved forward in search of an equaliser, but the cage that was formed around Orator was quickly broken up as the rats even with the loss of linerat Nortei Nortey, who to their horror was reincarnated in front of their eyes to slowly drag his zombie carcass to the Darklands dugout, stood firm as the half panned out into a midfield brawl with Orator unable to make any in roads.
The Frightening sight for all rat fans as Nortey is reincarnated after his death, joining the Darklands in the process.
The second half saw the pace of the rodent offence come to the fore, as at the second attempt, rat thrower Das Quyita-Reech's short pass to storm vermin Berndt Haas saw him race down the rodents left flank after good work from rat ogre Breaknut in clearing the way, leaving the walking corpses way out of position, which in turn saw star player Nekbrekerekh failing in his attempt to get back leaving Hass the easiest of touchdowns to put the game out of reach of the dead.
Marrowravanger bamboozles star runners Slobber and Jones in a piece of sublime skill.
But the undead are made of sterner cartilage these days and showed the viewing gallery what they can do with a quite simply brilliant conciliation. With time ticking away, the rats lined up narrow for the restart and the Darklands used the space to great effect. Ghoul Corpsemuncher collected the ball and immediately launched it to fellow ghoul Marrowravager, who raced down the unratted flank only for stars Slobber and Jones to strip the ball away from the grasp of the gymnastic ghoul and with that the rats seemed to have done enough for the clean sheet, only for the freak of nature to dance his way past the two bemused stars to re-collect the ball and dance his way in for a brilliant solo touchdown.
Up next...the Bograts continue their defence against the bottom side Mega Smashers while the Darklands entertain another heavyweight, as the dwarven Hashutites come into town.
MVP...Even if on the loosing side, Marrowravagers elf like skills lit up this game at the death with a mesmerising finish to showcase his undeniable talent and is surely a future star of the QMLS.
