Snablutch Slobber celebrates the title clinching score.
The Bognor Bograts claimed their maiden title with a tense and drama filled final with a late Snablutch Slobber touchdown dethroning Hashutites in an epic showdown between these two titans.
The setting for the final was just perfect.
It was a nervous affair to start with, as uncharacteristically the reigning champion chaos dwarfs failed to gather the ball after hobgoblin Bonecatcher was caught napping by Rhiyz-Jones in only the second phase of the game and with the ball lying prone, the rodents gratefully excepted the invitation given by the dwarfs as mutant Head-Lhyce Creep gathered and his short pass gave fellow runner Rhiyz-Jones the freedom of the park to run unopposed for the defensive score midway through the first half with the hysteria in the crowd turning into a full scale riot (which was not what the organisers wanted in the biggest game of all) with the referee bringing play back a phase which Hashutites used to their advantage, as a fortuitous throw back from the crowd after Bonecatcher was caught again in possession by Rhiyz-Jones was collected and short passed to bull centaur Darkstabber to equalise on the stroke of half time.
The game surpassed the pre-match hype.
This had the dwarf tails up and straight from the restart, blitzed with dwarf blocker Dyingfeet taking out danger mouse Rhiyz-Jones with a solid right hand while Darkstabber, rushed Creep who had collected the kick off deep in his own half.
But in typical skaven fashion, the ball was at the other end of the pitch within phases as Creep passed the ball over to runner Chiqui Arsol, whom with a loose cage around him, broke clear after a great switch of flanks left the short legged dwarfs scurrying back, but it was bull centaur, Darkstabber, with an unbelievable last ditch tackle sent Arsol crashing to the ground only 8 yards out with the crowd, launching the ball back on the half way line leaving the game wide open with players scattered all over the pitch and with only 6 rats remaining, the signs looked ominous for the Bograts.
But when skaven are on the field, anything is possible, gutter runner Slobber, raced over to colllect the ball from under the nose of dwarf Daemonball who showed his frustrations by close lining Slobber leaving the ball free again, but Nuffle was looking down on the rodents as after the ball had been scattered during the following phases it left Creep collecting the ball, but in an amazing turn of events the crowd where on their feet as Creep fell flat on his face on the white line itches away from the winner, but the drama hadn't finished their as inexplicably and in amazing scenes hobo Bonecatcher and dwarf Steelfist managed to miss the opportunity to gather the ball leaving Slobber the easiest of touchdowns to score in the dying moments of the game. The Bognor Bograts were champions in a remarkable ending to an enthralling match and season.
MVP - Gruff Rhyiz-Jones, fitting that the QMLS player of the year scored the opening touchdown, along with 2 sacks to cap off a memorable campaign.
