Assassins Rescue Point In Pulsating Draw Against Chaqua

Golden Eternals of Chaqua 2

Otl du Lac, Oatluax du Lac

Underearth Assassins 2

Gaenraearth, Yreoth

Two late touchdowns from Underearth ensured this pulsating clash ended with the spoils shared. It was a fine reward for the visitors as they threw down the gauntlet after falling 2-0 behind midway through the second half.

Gaenraearth whipped the support into a frenzy with a superb counterattack.

The du Lac twins had looked to have secured an unassailable lead after converting a fine defensive turnover and then driving home the second from the second half restart, but none envisaged a stunning last minute that had the lizardmen looking good for a killer 3rd TD only to succumb to a despaerate tackle to set up the frenetic ending.

The result keeps the Assassins within touching distance of the top 4, with the Golden Eternals establishing a gap from their rivals. The hosts will have mixed feelings about the result, however, as they may feel aggreived to snatch a draw from the jaws of victory.

Celmair the pseudo-vampire was kept in check by a fine defensive tackle.

An initial flurry from the Elves punctured through the lizard's line and set up a screen deep inside the defender's territory. It looked like an academic start, but the plan soon unravelled as Hethmair was knocked out for his selflessness in shovelling the ball forward to the vampire-esque Celmair. It would lead to a series of hits from the cold ones that reduced the Elves to just 5 putfield players. Otzotl was instrumental as he injured the dangerous witch, Gaenraearth.

Celmair failed to escape the intense speed of the recovering defenders, resulting in him slipping and fumbling the ball. The Lustrian giants displayed their need for speed and forged a rapid counterattack with Otl breaking the deadlock near the end of the first half.

To great delight of the Underearth faithful, the knocked-out elves returned to bolster the thinned defence. The breathtaking swiftness of the lizards, however, punctured through the elven column to allow Oatluax the task of pulling the Chaquans away.

The Assassins struggled at the restart as the huge wall of cold skin were reluctant to move, and their troubles were compounded by the offensive linemen collapsing under the weight. Hethmair ran deep into his endzone playing keep ball as the sauruses swamped the backfield.

Assassins struggled to contain the elusive skinks.

At this moment, the seemingly flaccid offense sprung into life and Hethmair initiated a series of plays that travelled the full length of the pitch, with a huge throw to Celmair, who handed off to Gaenraearth finishing off a stunning move that showed that even skinks could not keep up!

The Kroxigor was a thorn for most of the night, but hubris proved his undoing as the boneheaded beast was struck dumb when told to blitz and, unforgivably, switched off when needed to pin down the Assassins. It was the Chaquan's ultimate undoing, as Tenqtilt was forced to take a series of precarious dodges to end the contest with an unassailable 2 goal lead.

Hethmair's leadership qualities shone with 2 deep throws to seal the draw.

Instead, the diminuitive Tenqtilt was felled by Hethmair who then reacted with a quick pick up and huge launch upfield into the gaping arms of Yreoth who smartly whisked away to secure the most unlikeliest of draws seen in the QMLS.

Underearth Assassins will be bouyant after this result, and they will need to muster up all the courage to face the reigning QMLS champions, Bognor Bograts. Meanwhile, the Golden Eternals of Chaqua entertain the dangerous Darklands Resurrected.

Mango's Valuable Player: Hethmair had a game to remember, as he instigated the half-time fight back with 2 incredible long passes that swooped perfectly over the defender's shoulders as well as tackling at the death that no only denied a TD but it setup the frenetic end. His selflessness almost set up a TD in the first half and he suffered a KO for his trouble. An incredible performance!
